We want to thank you for coming together in this time of crisis and to
take part in this wave of compassion for the victims of this horrible
disaster brought forth by mother nature. Hurricane Katrina has taken
lives, displaced survivors and destroyed the livelihoods of so many
people. It has no doubt impacted our nation economically. But at a lesser
extent, it impacted those other nations as well that count on America's
generosity.
We need to do what we can locally and take part with other millions all
over the country and all over the world in helping to raise resources
to help the victims to rebuild their lives.
The "Wave of Compassion" for Victims of Hurricane Katrina has already
started in our community, and it will continue for many days and months
to come. During this past 3-day weekend, our small community has
collected $500 at the San Jose temple. The San Jose Cambodian Buddhist
Society has donated an additional $1,500.
We will give a check in the amount of $2,000 to the local American Red
Cross. we hope to add on to this amount as we continue to collect
donations. We also plan to establish a collection target for our community
to reach and hopefully to surpass.
Let's ride the Wave of Compassion!
Let's exercise the kinder side of our heart!
Let's reciprocate the kindness!
Let's dig deeper!
